The Skylark's SecretThe Skylark's Secret by Fiona Valpy

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

World War II books are always depressing. This one falls along those lines as well.

The first 50% was tough to get into but once I get invested in the characters I needed to finish it as well as it being a read for a book club.

I really liked Flora and her daughter Lexie and how their lives somewhat shadowed each other somewhat.

Also I must say I haven't been as satisfied with a character's demise in quite awhile I think the last one may have been Queen Levana? But yes this one was up there in ABOUT TIME HE GOT HIS.

My heart was broken with Flora leaving the note for Alec over the misunderstanding. The Skylark's Secret though- now that was a good one.

In the end Lexie and Davy YES YES YES I am so happy for them.

Three stars because I would not have chosen this on my own.
Like I said the first 50% I struggled.
And just the topic War is not fun reading for anyone (even if I am a History Major for life.)
